July 9: 4hr Inshore

### Captain's Log: July 9th Inshore Trip with Josh

On July 9th, the sun rose over the coastal waters of Morehead City, casting a golden hue across the serene landscape. I was excited to welcome my client, Josh, for a four-hour inshore fishing adventure. With the thoughts of flounder and red drum in the air, I knew we were in for a good time!

#### Setting Off

Josh arrived bright and early, full of energy and ready to make the most of his day on the water. After a quick overview of our plan, we loaded up the boat with gear and live bait, eager to set sail. The calm conditions and clear skies were perfect for a fishing trip—definitely a good omen!

#### First Stop: Flounder Grounds

We made our way to a well-known flounder hotspot, where the bottom structure promised plenty of action. I explained the best techniques for targeting these flatfish, emphasizing the importance of a slow, steady retrieve. Josh listened intently and cast his line into the water, feeling the anticipation build.

It didn’t take long for Josh to feel a tug. He set the hook, and the fight was on! Flounder are known for their sneaky tactics, but Josh was up for the challenge. After a thrilling battle, he successfully brought a nice flounder to the boat. We snapped a quick photo to capture the moment before gently releasing it back to the water.

#### Next Up: Red Drum

With our flounder success under our belts, we decided to shift gears and head to a nearby area known for its red drum population. I shared tips on how to attract these spirited fish using the live bait we had. Josh was all set, casting his line with confidence.

Not long after, he felt a strong pull and jumped into action. The thrill of the fight was palpable as he reeled in what turned out to be a beautiful red drum. The excitement in his voice filled the air as he brought the fish alongside the boat. We celebrated another successful catch with more photos, capturing the joy of the moment.

#### A Relaxing Break

After a couple of hours of fishing, we decided to take a break. The sun was shining, and the gentle rocking of the boat was the perfect invitation to relax for a moment. We shared some snacks and a cold drink while chatting about fishing tales and future trips. It’s always great to connect with clients and share our love for the water and the sport.

#### The Final Stretch

With our time winding down, we returned to our previous spots for one last chance to catch more fish. Although we didn’t land any additional keepers, Josh was thrilled with his flounder and red drum, and the laughter and good vibes continued to fill the boat.

Days like this remind me why I love being a fishing captain. It’s not just about the catch; it’s about the experiences shared and the joy of being out on the water. If you’re looking for an inshore fishing adventure in Morehead City, Cedar Point, or New Port; I invite you to join me. Who knows what you might reel in next? 🎣🌊✨
