### Captain's Log: July 28th – Red Drum Bonanza!
On July 28th, I set out for a four-hour inshore fishing trip that would soon become a highlight of the summer. The weather was perfect—sunny skies, a gentle breeze, and the waters of Morehead City were calm and inviting. With an eager group of anglers onboard, I was excited to see what the day had in store for us, especially with red drum on the agenda!
#### Setting Off
As my clients boarded the boat, their enthusiasm was palpable. After a quick introduction and briefing on our plan, we loaded up with gear and live bait, ready to chase after those feisty red drum. With everyone settled in and the lines in the water, we set off, the thrill of the adventure ahead palpable in the air.
#### First Stop: Red Drum Alley
We arrived at our first fishing spot, a well-known area that’s famous for its abundance of red drum. After explaining the best techniques for using our live bait, I showed the group how to cast their lines. They were all eager to get started, and I could sense that we were in for a great day.
It didn’t take long for the action to begin! Within minutes, the first rod bent sharply as a angler felt the unmistakable tug of a red drum. The excitement on the boat was electric as they set the hook and began reeling in. Cheers erupted as we brought the first fish alongside, a beautiful red drum that shimmered in the sunlight.
#### A Red Drum Frenzy
What followed was nothing short of a red drum bonanza! One by one, everyone onboard started hooking into fish. It was a continuous cycle of casting, reeling, and celebrating. The laughter and shouts of joy filled the air, creating an atmosphere of pure exhilaration. Each red drum landed brought smiles and high-fives, and I couldn’t help but feel the joy radiating from my clients.
We took a few moments to snap photos with each catch, capturing the memories of the day. It was incredible to see everyone so engaged and enjoying the thrill of fishing together.
#### A Well-Deserved Break
After an intense flurry of action, we decided to take a brief break. The sun was shining, and it was the perfect time to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. We enjoyed some snacks and drinks while soaking in the ocean breeze and chatting about the incredible day we were having.
#### The Final Stretch
With our cooler filling up and spirits soaring, we decided to make one last push for more red drum. The final hour was just as fruitful as the rest of the trip, and we landed several more fish, each one adding to the excitement of the day.
As we made our way back to the marina, the sun dipped lower in the sky, casting a golden hue over the water. My clients left with smiles on their faces, a cooler full of red drum, and a collection of memories that would last a lifetime.
Reflecting on the day, I felt grateful for the opportunity to share such a fantastic experience with eager anglers. Days like this remind me of why I love being on the water—it's not just about the fish; it's about the connections made and the joy shared.
