July 20th; Captains fun

### Captain's Log: July 20th – A Thrilling Day with Captain Jacob of Southern Tides Charters

On July 20th, I had the pleasure of teaming up with Captain Jacob from Southern Tides Charters for an exhilarating day on the water. The plan was to use live bait and slow troll for king mackerel, and I could already feel the excitement building as we set off from the marina. The ocean was calm, and the conditions were perfect for what promised to be a memorable fishing adventure.

#### Setting the Scene

As we loaded the boat with gear and live bait, Jacob’s enthusiasm was contagious. With the sun shining bright and the breeze in our hair, we cast off into the open water, ready to chase the kings.

#### The Slow Trolling Begins

Once we reached our designated fishing grounds, we set up our lines for slow trolling. The technique is all about patience and precision, and we guided the boat to keep our live bait swimming at the right depth. We maintained a steady pace, scanning the waters for any signs of movement.

It wasn’t long before we started to see some action. We had a few bites here and there, keeping our hopes up as we waited for that big hit. Jacob and I exchanged stories and fishing tips, enjoying the camaraderie that comes with being on the water.

#### The Insane Bite

Then, it happened. Out of nowhere, Jacob’s rod bent violently, and the reel screamed as line peeled off at an alarming rate. I could see the adrenaline rush through him as he quickly grabbed the rod, knowing he was hooked into something special. “This feels like a monster!” he exclaimed, and I could hardly contain my excitement.

The battle was on. Jacob fought with determination, his focus unwavering as the king mackerel made several powerful runs. I adjusted the boat’s position, trying to keep the fish from diving into any structure. The energy was electric, and I could see the passion for fishing radiating from Jacob.

#### A Personal Best

After what felt like an eternity, Jacob finally brought the fish alongside the boat. It was a massive king mackerel, its sleek body shining in the sunlight. We both couldn’t believe the size of this beautiful fish! Jacob’s smile was ear-to-ear as we snapped some photos to commemorate the moment. With this catch, he set a new personal best.

#### Celebrating the Catch

After the excitement of the catch settled, we took a moment to appreciate the beauty of the ocean and the thrill of fishing. Jacob shared stories of his favorite fishing trips, and it was clear that this king mackerel would be a memory he’d cherish for years to come.

We continued to troll for a little while longer, hoping to hook into another big one, but I knew that Jacob had already made this trip unforgettable.
